September “My Why” Spotlight: Meet Jill Myers
Billings, Montana | Community Relations Representative
Finding Purpose in Compassion, Connection and Community
At Stillwater Hospice, we encourage our team members to share their “why”—the people, experiences and values that brought them to hospice and continue to give their work meaning. These stories offer a closer look at the people behind the care we provide and the heart they bring to patients, families and communities every day.
This month, we’re proud to introduce Jill Myers, Community Relations Representative for Stillwater Hospice in Billings, Montana.
A Role That Fills Every Bucket
Jill joined Stillwater Hospice six months ago, but she had long felt that hospice work would be a natural fit for her.
“I really felt like the opportunity at Stillwater would perfectly fill every bucket in my life,” Jill said. “Working with families and providing information and empathy brings me so much joy, while building relationships within the community energizes me and allows for great work-life balance.”
As a Community Relations Representative, Jill helps families better understand hospice care while building strong relationships with healthcare providers and other community partners throughout the Billings area. Her role allows her to combine compassion, education and connection—all things that come naturally to her.
“I’ve always known hospice care would be something I would love,” she said. “Providing such a high level of care during a difficult time has always felt natural to me.”
A Deeper Respect for Families and Caregivers
Working in hospice has given Jill an even deeper appreciation for the family members and caregivers supporting someone they love.
“Families and caregivers are doing so much,” Jill said.
They’re often balancing medical needs, everyday responsibilities and difficult emotions while trying to make the best decisions possible. Jill sees how much strength that requires and how important it is for families to have reliable information, compassionate support and people willing to listen.
Her work has reinforced the value of meeting people where they are, answering questions honestly and helping families understand that they don’t have to navigate hospice care alone.
Lipstick, a New Dress and One Final Act of Love
Jill’s connection to hospice is also deeply personal. One of her most meaningful memories comes from her mother-in-law’s hospice experience.
During that time, something as simple as lipstick and a new dress became a final act of love. It was a small moment, but one that honored who her mother-in-law had always been and helped her feel cared for, seen, and beautiful.
The experience stayed with Jill because it captured something hospice families understand so well: near the end of life, the smallest gestures can hold enormous meaning.
Hospice created the time and space for her family to slow down, be present, and care for her mother-in-law in a way that reflected her personality and dignity—not simply her diagnosis.
Showing Up for the Billings Community
Today, Jill brings that personal understanding into every conversation she has throughout the Billings community.
Her role includes connecting with healthcare professionals, senior living communities, local organizations, and families who may have questions about hospice care. Sometimes those conversations happen long before hospice is needed. Other times, families are already facing difficult decisions and need clear information quickly.
Jill’s goal is to make hospice easier to understand and help people feel more comfortable asking questions. She believes education gives families more time to consider their options, make informed choices, and focus on what matters most.
For Jill, community relations isn’t simply about building professional connections. It’s about becoming a trusted resource and showing up with empathy, consistency and care.
Family Is Her Why
At the center of Jill’s life and work is her family. They’re a constant reminder of why compassion, connection and meaningful work matter.
“I want them to know there is joy in every phase of life,” she said.
That belief shapes the way Jill approaches hospice care and the relationships she builds throughout Billings. Even during difficult seasons, she believes there can still be connection, dignity, love and moments worth holding onto.
We’re grateful to have Jill representing Stillwater Hospice and sharing her heart with the Billings community.
