October “My Why” Spotlight: Meet Linda Jolley

Powell, Wyoming | Director of Clinical Services

For Linda Jolley, hospice care isn’t simply another chapter in her nursing career. In many ways, it’s where her career was always meant to lead her.

Linda is the Director of Clinical Services for Stillwater Hospice in Powell, Wyoming and joined our team in early 2026. But her connection to hospice began much earlier.

As a relatively new nursing graduate, Linda started her career working in home health and hospice. She was drawn to the opportunity to provide specialized, meaningful care to patients and families in their homes, particularly during one of life’s most vulnerable transitions.

“Offering holistic support in the home for patients at the end of life felt like a true calling and the direction I wanted to pursue in my career,” Linda shares.

Over the years, she moved into other areas of nursing to broaden her experience and care for patients across a wide range of ages, conditions, and circumstances. But hospice never stopped feeling like home.

After 10 years away from the specialty, Linda found herself coming full circle.

“I was always drawn back to hospice care, knowing it was where I truly belonged.”

A Different Kind of Nursing

Linda believes hospice is a uniquely transformative area of nursing—not only for the people receiving care, but also for those providing it.

Hospice has shaped the way she thinks about faith, family, caregiving, and the importance of making time for meaningful moments.

Above all, she values the opportunity to provide patients and their families with comfort and a sense of security when they need it most.

“Knowing you’re providing comfort, dignity, and peace during one of life’s most vulnerable moments can be incredibly meaningful,” Linda says. “The ability to ease pain, support families, and simply be present offers a kind of fulfillment that goes beyond routine care.”

That sense of purpose continues to motivate her, even on difficult days.

Leading a Team That Shows Up

As Director of Clinical Services, Linda’s impact extends beyond her own interactions with patients and families.

Her role includes supporting the clinical team, providing guidance through challenging situations, improving processes, addressing barriers to care, and encouraging collaboration across the interdisciplinary team.

For Linda, leadership is also about creating a culture where compassionate, patient-centered care remains at the center of every decision.

Although she is still relatively new to Stillwater Hospice, one of the most meaningful parts of her experience so far has been watching her team live that commitment every day.

“I witness them consistently going above and beyond for patients and their families,” she says. “The level of care they provide is remarkable, and their passion for their work is even more inspiring.”

Linda hopes to continue growing alongside her team while helping ensure patients and families experience meaningful moments throughout their hospice journey.

Linda’s Why

When Linda thinks about her “why,” there isn’t one patient, one moment, or one image that defines it.

Instead, she thinks about an entire nursing journey filled with different people, experiences, smiles—and plenty of tears.

Those experiences have taught her that no two patients are ever the same and that no textbook can fully capture the needs of the person in front of you. Great healthcare requires knowledge, but it also requires the ability to listen, adapt, and recognize each person as an individual.

That becomes especially important at the end of life.

“End-of-life care is complex and often uncertain, yet it is deeply meaningful,” Linda says. “It is an honor to provide holistic care to individuals in their homes, surrounded by the people they love, during such an important part of their journey.”

And through all the memories that come to mind when Linda reflects on her career, one thing remains constant:

“At the end of the day, I know that I have made a difference.”

For Linda, that is the why.

At Stillwater Hospice, our #MyWhy series shares the people and stories behind the care we provide. Each member of our team brings their own experiences, purpose, and heart to hospice—and we’re proud to introduce you to them.
