July “My Why” Spotlight: Meet Emily Bischoff

Helena, Montana | Community Relations Representative

Some people find hospice through a career path. Others find it through personal experience. For Emily Bischoff, it was both.

Before joining Stillwater Hospice, Emily worked in an assisted living community where she saw firsthand the comfort hospice could bring to residents and their families. She also experienced hospice personally while caring for her grandmother. Seeing both the positive moments and the challenges strengthened her desire to help families have the compassionate experience they deserve.

After spending years at home raising her four children, Emily knew that when she returned to work, she wanted it to be meaningful.

"I wanted whatever I chose for my career to have purpose and to make a difference in the world."

That purpose led her to Stillwater Hospice.

Emily believes hospice is about much more than caring for the person at the end of life. It's about supporting the entire family through one of life's most difficult seasons. Whether she's helping someone understand hospice for the first time or simply offering a warm smile, she hopes every family feels heard, supported, and cared for from the very beginning.

One experience stands out in particular.

Emily had previously helped a family transition into an assisted living community. Later, she was able to support them again through hospice care.

"It felt like I helped them through this entire season of their life."

Even on difficult days, Emily finds strength in the people around her. Her family inspires her to do meaningful work, and her Helena teammates remind her that no one carries this responsibility alone.

"Our Helena team is incredibly kind and caring. We listen to each other on the hard days. We support each other. Every discipline works together."

For Emily, hospice is where family, compassion, and humanity come together.

It's not simply about helping people at the end of life.

It's about helping them—and the people who love them—feel comfort, dignity, and hope every step of the way.
